SERVPRO First Responder Bowl Joins Forces with NOBLE

DALLAS – The SERVPRO First Responder Bowl is teaming up with the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE).

Headquartered in Alexandria, Va., NOBLE is a professional, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with more than 3,000 members. It consists primarily of police chiefs and other heads of law enforcement agencies at each level of government. NOBLE serves as the conscience of law enforcement by being “committed to justice by action.”

NOBLE was founded in 1976 during a symposium that featured 60 top-ranking Black law enforcement executives representing 24 states and 50 major cities who were addressing crime in low-income urban areas. During the symposium, participants recognized that Black law enforcement executives could have a significantly more effective impact upon the criminal justice system through a unified voice, and therefore departed from the planned agenda and instead created NOBLE.

“NOBLE is excited and honored to collaborate with the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl,” said NOBLE National President, Frederick L. Thomas. “We look forward to engaging the players, fans, and communities as we work to ensure equity in the administration of justice.”

In December 2014, the annual bowl began honoring first responders, including police officers, firefighters, EMS workers, correctional officers, search and rescue, dispatchers, security guards, federal agents, border patrol agents and military personnel who have specialized training and are the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency. In 2018, the game was renamed to reflect the efforts to show appreciation to first responders.

“To have the respective leadership of NOBLE involved with our event is a huge win for us,” said, Brant Ringler, executive director of the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl, “And we look forward to developing this collaboration toward the betterment of our student athletes through open conversation on relationship building with first responders.”

The 2021 game will be played on Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 2:15 p.m. (CT) at SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas.

Schools that have previously competed in the game include: Army West Point, Boise State, Boston College, Houston, Illinois, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Purdue, Southern Miss, Texas Tech, UNLV, Utah, UTSA, Washington, West Virginia, Western Michigan and Western Kentucky.
